Naseerabad: Client murdered, counsel injured in a firing incident

Armed men opened fire and killed a person Ejaz Ahmed Umrani and injured Barakat Ali Advocate on Monday evening in Dera Murad Jamali, the district headquarter of Naseerabad Balochistan. Ejaz Umrani was visiting the chamber of Barakat Ali advocate pursuing a case when attacked by armed men, police said.

“Police quickly retaliated and arrested 2 accused in the murder”, Abdul Hayee Baloch, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Naseerabad told Quetta Voice via telephone. Mr. Baloch termed the incident as a result of an old tribal enmity in the area. Soon after the incident, police personnel reached the spot as an investigation into the incident went underway.

Lawyers strongly condemn the incident

Members of the legal fraternity have strongly condemned the incident and urged the government to provide protection to lawyers. “This is third such incident during last three months”, Munir Kakar Advocate, the Vice-President Balochistan Bar Council (BBC) said.

The BBC and Quetta Bar Association (QBA) also announced boycott of courts across Balochistan tomorrow to protest over the incident. “Government must apprehend the culprits”, Mr. Kakar demanded. Lawyers’ bodies are expected to address an emergency press conference tomorrow to announce a future protest strategy.
