Syed Muhammad Yaseen :

Most parts of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan province plunges into darkness on Sunday night. Citizens suffered major breakdowns for hours and faced difficulties. Residents of airport road, Kharotabad, Shehbaz town, Nawan Killi faced major breakdown. Besides Quetta, other parts of central and northern Balochistan also witnessed a major power breakdown.

Officials from the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) failed to ensure the restoration of power supply in various parts of the city. People took to social media networks including Facebook, WhatsApp, and Twitter and complained about prolonged load shedding in the provincial capital.

“We are trying to fix the issue and restore the supply”, an official of the QESCO told Quetta Voice. He cited a technical fault as a result of the major power breakdown. However, people strongly criticized QESCO for what they claim its failure to ensure an uninterrupted power supply.

Power supply is provided to most parts of Balochistan from Guddu

Most parts of Balochistan including the provincial capital Quetta receive power supply from the Guddu transmission line through the Bolan mountains and the Naseerabad division. Miscreants have also repeatedly blown up gas pipelines and power supplies in the past. However, QESCO termed technical fault as the underlying reason behind tonight’s power breakdown.

The power supply was restored from some feeders to various parts of Quetta city. QESCO authorities said power supply to the remaining parts of the city would also be restored today (Monday).
