Quetta blast: 10 injured

At least 10 people were injured in a blast in Quetta on Wednesday afternoon. Police said the bomb exploded in the Samungli area of Quetta. The injured rushed to civil hospital Quetta for medical treatment. Initial information suggests, unknown miscreants, lobbed a hand grenade at the laborers in the Samungli area of Quetta. Two children also among the injured, police said. The labourers were working on a roadside when targeted by miscreants, police said. Liaquat Shahwani, the Spokesman government of Balochistan said the blast left 10 injured. “Seven injured shifted to civil hospital and three under treatment in BMC hospital”, Shahwani said.

Police and personnel of other law enforcement agencies reached the spot as an investigation into the incident went underway. The attackers fled away on a motorcycle after the attack.

The blast has come after months in Quetta since the law and order situation improved in the aftermath of successful operations by security forces against banned militant outfits. Security forces have intensified operations against the miscreants operating in various parts of the province. Levies force foiled a major bid of terrorism by seizing huge catche of arms and ammunition in Balochistan’s Kohlu district today (Wednesday).

In August this year, a blast killed 5 people and injured 20 others in Chaman, Pakistan’s bordering city with Afghanistan. Miscreants had planted a bomb on a motorcycle parked on the roadside.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has strongly condemned the blast and directed the police to arrest the culprits involved in the terror act. “Terrorists would be brought to book”, the Chief Minister said in a statement issued after the blast.
