The accused also confessed looting a bank, he mentioned. Security forces also recovered a pistol and other weapons from the possession of the suspected militant. “The accused is being interrogated”, he said.

The raid has come few days after the CTD killed a key commander of the defunct organization in Balochistan’s Mastung district. The commander was involved in a terrorist attack that had claimed over 100 precious human lives including Siraj Raisani on July 13, 2013. Late Raisani was contesting an election on the ticket of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).

Balochistan under the grip of violence

Balochistan has been under the grip of violence for last more than one and a half-decade. Bomb explosions, targeted killings, and rocket attacks have claimed scores of precocious human lives. Since then, security remains tightened in Quetta and all troubled parts of Balochistan to maintain the order. The provincial government has deployed the Frontier Corps in all sensitive and troubled parts of the province to ensure peace.

The FC was given policing powers in Quetta during former chief minister Balochistan, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani led government. Acts of targeted killings and bomb explosions were almost the order of the day at that time. Following successful actions by the security forces, the number of terrorist incidents has considerably decreased in Balochistan.
