A doctor was killed in a firing incident in the Killa Abdullah district of Balochistan on Tuesday. Levies sources said unknown accused opened fire at a clinic and killed a doctor on the spot. The assailants sped away on their motorcycle after the attack. The entire Jangle Pir Alizai Bazar was closed after the attack. Shopkeepers pulled down their shutters.
Levies force and residents of the area reached the spot and shifted the dead body of the doctor to a nearby hospital. The victim was identified as Dr. Fida Muhammad. The killing of the doctor sparked protest and the angry tribesmen blocked the main Quetta-Chaman highway linking Pakistan with Afghanistan to condemn the incident.
They demanded that the district administration and the provincial government bring the perpetrators to book.
Caretaker Home Minister Balochistan, Captain (R) Zubair Jamali took serious notice of the incident and directed the levies force to arrest the culprits behind the attack. In a condemnation statement issued after the incident, Mr. Jamali said the accused would not be spared and that they would be given exemplary punishment.
He expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic killing of the doctor.
