DALBANDIN: In a somber incident in the Iranian border town of Taftan, tragedy struck as one person lost his life to a mortar shell explosion. Assistant Commissioner of Taftan reported that the Russian-made mortar shell was discovered by Abdul Nabi, a resident of Yak Mach, in the nearby mountainous border area.

The attempt to open the shell proved fatal, causing serious injuries to Nabi, who succumbed to them while being transferred to the hospital. The Taftan Civil Administration confirmed the unfortunate incident.

The victim, identified as Abdul Nabi, son of Abdul Qadir, had found the explosive device and tragically lost his life in an unintended detonation. Authorities reached the spot as an investigation into the incident went underway.

The administration also ordered an inquiry into the incident.
