QUETTA: At least three terrorists were killed and a security personnel was martyred during an exchange of fire in the Wali Tangi area of district Quetta on Friday, the military’s media wing said.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said armed terrorists had attacked the checkpost of security forces near the Wali Tangi area on Thursday evening.

“During fire exchange, three terrorists were sent to hell,” the statement said. It said that Subedar Qaiser Raheem had embraced martyrdom while “fighting valiantly in the line of duty”, adding that one other soldier had been seriously injured.

“Security forces of Pakistan will continue to thwart the efforts of the enemies of peace and prosperity in the country,” the statement said. Interim Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti “strongly condemned the attack” and said the entire nation saluted the martyr.

Jan Achakzai, the Caretaker Information Minister of Balochistan also condemned the attack on forces in the Wali Tangi area of Quetta. “Security Forces have offered a lot of sacrifices to maintain peace in the province”, Mr. Achakzai Said. No one is allowed to disrupt the peace process, and the culprits involved in the incident will be brought to justice, Achakzai added.
