Liaquat Shahwani, the Spokesman government of Balochistan addressing a press conference about COVID-19

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to conduct 50,000 tests of suspected coronavirus patients in the province. Liaquat Shahwani, the Spokesman government of Balochistan while addressing a press conference said that 286 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Quetta city.

“Locally transmitted cases pose a serious threat”, Mr. Shahwani said. The Balochistan government has extended the lockdown to May 5th in an attempt to halt the spread of novel coronavirus.

He however, warned that any citizen violating the lockdown order would be quarantined by the law enforcement agencies. To a question, Mr. Shahwani said that there was a capacity of quarantine 6,000 people at one time in 60 quarantine centers in the province. He elaborated that isolation centers comprising 1,600 beds were established in Quetta to cope with any emergency situation.
