Twenty- three members of Iran’s parliament (majlis) have been recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The total number of parliament in Iran is 290. Iran’s deputy parliament speaker Abdul Reza Misri quoted by Iranian media revealed that 8 % of Iran’s member of parliament were tested positive for the novel corona virus.

The deputy speaker Misri said this while addressing reporters in Tehran on Tuesday. The speaker has also sent a letter  to the Supreme Iranian leader regarding the outbreak of disease. The MPs were directed to halt their contact with people and avoid roaming in public places.

The speaker also advocated the idea of suspension of open sessions of parliament to avoid its spread.
