QUETTA: No consensus has been made on the nomination of the caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan. Mir Quddus Bizenjo, the CM of Balochistan is likely to send the summary to the Governor within the next couple of days.
Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (JUI), the key opposition party formed its three-member committee comprising the opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly, Malik Sikandar Advocate, the party’s Balochistan Amir, Maulana Abdul Wasey and MPA, Mir Younas Aziz Zehri. “So far none from the government has formally contacted our parliamentary committee”, a senior leader of the JUI said. He requested anonymity because of the political sensitivity of the matter. The party has also nominated Mir Usman Badini as its candidate for the slot of CM ship in Balochistan. Mr. Badini remained in the member national assembly previously.

The ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) is yet to form any parliamentary committee to have negotiations with the opposition. However, sources close to the Chief Minister Balochistan said that the latter is expected to meet the opposition leader very soon. They further revealed that the ruling BAP is expected to nominate Mir Hamal Kalmati who enjoys the support of CM Bizenjo and his own party i.e. the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) as a candidate. Besides Kalmati, the names of Mir Naseer Bizenjo, a close relative of CM Bizenjo, and Senator Khoda Babar who enjoys the support of chairman Senate Mir Sadiq Sanjrani are also being discussed for CM ship.
Behroz Regi and Faiz Kakar are also potential candidates
Mir Behroz Regi, Pakistan’s ambassador to Sudan and Dr. Faiz Kakar, the former health minister of Balochistan are also potential candidates for the position of CM ship in Balochistan. Both have held detailed meetings with members of the opposition and treasury benches to win the race.
To be precise, a final announcement in this regard is expected within the next couple of days as the JUI Amir in Balochistan, Maulana Abdul Wasey has arrived in the provincial capital to finalize the name.
