QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday directed the provincial education department to halt the process of teachers recruitment.

A division bench of the BHC comprising Mr. Justice Kamran Malakhail and Mr. Justice Sardar Ahmed Haleemi passed this order on a petition regarding the ongoing recruitment process of teachers through Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University.

Notification about teachers upgradation also suspended

The bench also suspended the notification of education department about the up gradations of junior teachers in Balochistan. On June 18, the provincial government had upgraded over 30,000 teachers across the province.

The bench also questioned the process of teachers recruitment. “You advertised the posts in grade 14 now after upgradation, you are appointing them in grade 15”, the bench questioned.

The court directed the secretary education Balochistan to appear before the bench and explain.

Jobs on sale talk of the town: Court observed

The bench observed that it was talk of the town government jobs were on sale in Balochistan. The bench pointed out that as per reports there were more than 3500 non functional schools across the province.

The court mentioned that more than 75 percent of the budget was being spent on salaries and pensions with a bleak performance.
