Dawood Ahmed:

In a major blow to the former ruling party i.e. Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI), Asad Umar stepped down as the Secretary General and the member of the Core Committee. Asad was considered to be a close aide of the former prime minister Imran Khan.

He said that after the events of May 9 it was not possible for him to keep the leadership positions within the PTI. “Therefore, I am withdrawing as secretary general of the party as well as membership of the party’s core committee.”
