Torrential rains caused the suspension of traffic between Balochistan and Sindh provinces on Monday. Flash floods unleashed by heavy rainfall swept away the Pinjra pul in the Bolan mountains of Balochistan. This caused the suspension of traffic between Sindh and Balochistan.

“Various teams working to reopen the highway”, Chief Secretary Balochistan, Abdul Aziz Uqaili stated. He said the highway was reopened for small vehicles. However, heavy trucks were still stuck in the Bolan mountains.

Long queues of vehicles were also witnessed

Long queues of vehicles were also witnessed on both sides of the road because of the suspension of the traffic. Passengers remained the worst sufferers and they waited for hours to reach their destination.

Floods also washed away roads in different locations on the Quetta-Karachi highway. This also caused the suspension of traffic between Quetta and Karachi. However, the district administration of Lasbela and Hub were quick to reopen the traffic.

Rains cause damages in the Kech district of Balochistan

Rains also caused damage to the mud-walled houses in Balochistan’s Kech, Mastung, Pishin, Killa Abdullah and other districts of Balochistan. However, no human loss was reported as a result of the rains.

The provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) also placed its staff on high alert to meet any emergency situation in Balochistan. Besides PDMA, the administration of all affected districts have also been placed on high alert to tackle any situation.
