Armed men opened fire in Balochistan’s Noshki district and killed one person and injured another on Saturday evening. Police sources said armed men opened fire at a hotel on the RCD highway linking Pakistan with Iran.

As a result of the firing, one man identified as Muhammad Hayat was killed in the attack. The assailants escaped unhurt from the spot. Local tribesmen rushed to the spot and shifted the injured man and the dead body to the district headquarters hospital Noshki.

Protesters block the main highway as a protest against the incident

The angry tribesmen blocked the main RCD highway and kept the dead body on the road. They were demanding the arrest of the accused involved in the killing of Muhammad Hayat.

Long queues of vehicles and trucks were witnessed on both sides of the highway. Passengers suffered a lot in heat while fasting. They were critical of the administration for their failure to reopen the road.

Later on, the district police officer (DPO), Abdul Rauf Bareech and other high-level officials held successful negotiations with protesters, and the highway was reopened for traffic.
