QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Friday ordered to quash all first information reports (FIRs) registered against Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) leader, Azam Swati in Balochistan. Senior judge of the BHC Mr. Justice Hashim Khan Kakar passed this order on a constitutional petition filed by the son of Mr. Swati.
Senior lawyer, Naseebullah Tareen Advocate and other lawyers appeared before the court on behalf of Azam Swati. Five cases were registered against PTI leader Azam Swati for using foul language against state institutions. The cases were registered in Kuchlak, Khuzdar, Pasni, Zhob and other parts of Balochistan.
Earlier a local court had handed over Mr. Swati on five days remand to police in Quetta. However, the BHC also ordered the release of Mr. Swati after the quashing of FIRs in Balochistan. However, Mr. Swati could not be released as two more FIRs were also registered against the PTI leader.

2 FIRs were registered against Swati in Lasbela and Windar

“Two FIRs were registered against Azam Swati in Windar and Lasbela”, Naseebullah Tareen Advocate, the Counsel for Swati told reporters. He said this shows the malafide intention of Balochistan police with regard to the Azam Swati case. “We are going to file another petition about the quashing of remaining FIRs in Balochistan”, Mr. Tareen mentioned.
The PTI leader was arrested in Islamabad by the Balochistan Police a week ago after the registration of cases against him in the province. Police brought Mr. Swati to Quetta and produced him before the court of law. “These all are politically motivated cases”, Qasam Suri, the former deputy speaker national assembly told reporters at the premises of the Balochistan High Court after the court judgment.

“PTI will resist every unfair move and continue its struggle for a democratic Pakistan”, Mr. Suri said.
