QUETTA: Renowned blind Pashto poet, Shafiq Alam Maazooryar 65 breathed his last on Wednesday. Late Maazooryar was suffering from illness for a long time. Friends and family members confirmed the demise of the well-known blind Pashto poet, Shafiq Alam Maazooryar.
Maazooryar was one of the famous Pashto poets in Pakistan and Afghanistan. His work was widely recognized and appreciated among literary figures. He has authored eight books. The ninth book was ready for publication, family sources said.
“Maazooryar had played a key role in the promotion of Pashto literature”, Dr. Liaquat Taban, a well-known Pashto poet, and author said. The news of the demise of the late blind poet was widely shared on social media as well.
“This is an irreparable loss”, Abdul Rauf Rafiqui, another famous author and literary figure said. The schedule for the funeral prayer would be announced later.
