QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) judges committee termed the martyrdom of former chief justice BHC, Muhammad Noor Meskanzai as an irreparable loss. Chief Justice BHC, Mr. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan chaired the judges’ committee’s meeting on Monday.
Senior judges of the BHC, Mr. Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, Mr. Justice Kamran Malakhail, Mr. Justice Rozi Khan Bareech, Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Baloch, Mr. Justice Abdullah Baloch and other judges participated in the condolence meeting.
BHC judges paid rich tribute to Muhammad Noor Meskanzai, the former CJ BHC and CJ Federal Shariat Court. The judges observed that the former CJ BHC had played an important role in strengthening the judiciary and judicial system in the country and province.
The judges expressed serious concern over the barbaric act and prayed for the departed soul, a press release issued by the BHC said on Monday evening.
Members of the legal fraternity also observed a boycott of courts across Balochistan to mount the killing of the former top judge of the province. Almost all bodies of the legal fraternity have announced three days of mourning to condemn the killing of Muhammad Noor Meskanzai, the former CJ BHC.
Unknown armed men opened fire and killed Mr. Meskanzai in Balochistan’s Kharan district the other day. Police said the armed accused opened fire at the former CJ when he came out of the mosque after offering prayer.
The Balochistan government has formed a joint interrogation team (JIT) to probe into the killing of the former top judge of the province. According to Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Department, the JIT would comprise police, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), ISI, and Military intelligence officers.
The JIT would submit its report to the Balochistan government within 30 days. The DIG CTD would lead the JIT in investigating the murder of Mr. Meskanzai, an official notification issued by the home department said.
