Hussain Zarkoon:
A miner died in a coal mine incident in Balochistan’s Dukki district on Saturday morning. Levies sources said the miner was working deep inside the mine when a landslide hit him. The coal miner was dead on the spot.
The victim was identified as Shahid Akbar, a resident of Swat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rescue workers reached the spot and retrieved the dead body of the miner from the mine.
Rescue workers shifted the dead body to district headquarters hospital Dukki. The hospital administration handed over the dead body to the victim’s heirs after the completion of necessary official procedures.
Hazardous working conditions inside the coal mines of Balochistan have claimed thousands of precious human lives. Such incidents inside coal mines of Dukki, Harnai, Mach, Bolan, Chamalang and other areas of Balochistan are the order of the day.
Despite repeated appeals, the Balochistan government has failed to improve working conditions for the coal miners. “No safety arrangements for the poor coal miners”, Pir Muhammad Kakar, the central leader of All Pakistan Mines and Minerals Association said. Mr. Kakar demanded of the provincial government to improve working conditions for the poor coal miners in coal mines located in various parts of the province.
