Cholera claims lives of 2 minor girls in Dukki, 1500 infected

Cholera claimed two lives of minor girls in Balochistan’s Dukki district on Friday. Health officials said a cholera outbreak has been reported from various parts of the district. Over 1500 people were infected by cholera in the district.

Two-year-old girl Ayesha daughter of Syed Mohammad Nasir in Killi Hayat Khan Nasir and the seven-year-old girl died in Yaro city, the official informed. The death toll in cholera-related incidents rose to six during the last few days in the district, the health official mentioned. He requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Cholera has infected people in 19 union councils including Dukki, Luni, Tal Ismail and others. The Balochistan health department is yet to establish medical camps to overcome the situation and make sure provision of timely health facilities to the affected people.

No necessary health facilities in the district headquarters hospital in Dukki. The patients have been facing problems because of the non-availability of medicines and trained health professional staff.
