QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) barred the Home Department Government of Balochistan from making appointments in the prisons department. A division bench of the BHC comprising Senior Judge, Mr. Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, and Mr. Justice Gul Hassan Tareen passed this order on a constitutional petition filed by five candidates in the high court.

The successful candidates in the previously held tests and interviews had challenged the recent advertisement in newspapers regarding the recruitment in the prisons department. The bench asked the Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Department and Prisons Department not to make any appointments in the department.

The candidates pleaded before the court that the recruitment committee has prepared the final merit list after a set procedure of tests and interviews. However, the department has issued fresh advertisements instead of issuing them orders as per the previously prepared merit list.
