QUETTA: At the present, 4500 Jawans and Officers of the Pakistan Army are engaged in the relief and rescue operations in Balochistan. “Troops of the Pakistan Army are stationed in the flood-affected areas in the province to cope with any emergency situation”, 12 Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor informed.
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Commander 12 Corps Balochistan Lt.General Asif Ghafoor, and the Acting Governer Balochistan Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali visited the Provincial Disaster Managment Authority(PDMA) office on Tuesday. Home minister Mir Zia Langove, and Chief Secretary Balochistan Abdul Aziz Aqeli were also present.
CM Bizenjo, Commander 12-Corps briefed about relief operation
The PDMA authorities briefed the CM and Commander 12-Corps about the weather conditions and relief activities in the province. The damages caused by the floods and relief activities were reviewed. More rainfall is predicted from tomorrow which will continue for next 3 days, the DG PDMA, Naseer Ahmed Nasar brifed the high ups.
The dams on which water pressure is high will be kept under supervision, and to increase the rescue and relief activities, robust steps must be taken in restoring the infrastructure, CM Bizenjo directed. The meeting decided that a collective survey will be conducted to review the damages caused due to flash floods.

“Torential rains have created a massive disaster in Balochistan, not only two or three but all districts are affected “, The CM Balochistan mentioned. The provincial government has provided funds to the PDMA and the Deputy Commissioners to fullful the basic needs.
The major causes of damage in Quetta and other areas is the encroachments on waterways and drains, the DG PDMA revealed. It was decided to speed up the ongoing measures to eliminate illegal settlements on waterways and drains. The meeting decided that heavy missionary will be obtained on rent for the maintenance of communication links and relief activities across Balochistan.
