Islamabad police on Tuesday arrested Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) senior leader Shehbaz Gill. Police shifted Shehbaz Gill from Banigala to the police station. Fayaz ul Hassan Chohan of the PTI also confirmed the arrest of Gill.

Mr. Gill had given controversial statements recently. So far, no case has been registered against the PTI leader. However, a senior police official said a case would be registered soon against Mr. Gill.

Former federal minister, Murad Saeed also confirmed the arrest of Shehbaz Gill. “Imported government has surpassed limits of excesses”, he said in a statement after the arrest.

He alleged that there was a “terrible plan” hatched last night but the PTI’s followers had sent a “clear message” that any action against party chairman Imran Khan would be crossing the “red line”.

Pemra censures ARY News for Gill’s comments

A day ago, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) issued a show cause notice to ARY News for airing comments from Gill, that it said were “highly hateful and seditious” remarks tantamount to “incite armed forces towards revolt”.
