Country Director WB meets Bizenjo, assures increasing assistance for Balochistan

QUETTA: Country Director, World Bank, Najy Benhassine has assured Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Quddus Bizenjo about increasing financial assistance for improving water resources, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and other sectors in the province.

On Friday, Mr. Najy Behnassine called on Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo and discussed the World Bank’s ongoing projects and other issues pertaining to the province. Provincial irrigation minister, Muhammad Khan Lehri and other high ups were also present on occasion.

The Country Director assured that the WB would seriously think about increasing grants and technical support to improve governance, improve socio-economic indicators in Balochistan. Speaking on occasion, Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo assured that his government would extend all possible support to the World Bank in the implementation of its projects for the masses of the province.

Currently, four projects of WB worth 212 million dollars are underway in Balochistan. Although, the Country Director Mr. Najy Benhassine stated that all-out efforts would be made to improve governance in the province.

“We need your support in improving governance and management”, Mr. Bizenjo told the Country Director. He said all political parties who were part of the government were committed to improving socio-economic indicators in the province.

The WB Country Director also assured other donor agencies would also be convinced to support the government of Balochistan in improving socio-economic indicators in the province.
