Syed Ali Shah:

In a surprise move, the portfolio of the fisheries department was taken back from Haji Akbar Askani, a lawmaker from the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP). The Chief Minister is pleased to withdraw the portfolio of the fisheries department from Haji Akbar Askani with immediate effect, a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) said on Wednesday.

Mr. Askani is a member of the provincial assembly from Balochistan’s Kech district. He belongs to the ruling BAP. Mr. Askani had played an important role against the former Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan led government.

Askani was one of the four lawmakers who went missing

He was one of the four lawmakers who abruptly went missing when a no-confidence motion was tabled against the former chief executive of Balochistan. Gwadar Right Movement, Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman had also leveled serious allegations against Mr. Askani. The Maulana had demanded the removal of the Minister earlier.

This is for the first time that CM Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has withdrawn a portfolio from a minister since assuming the charge as the Chief Executive of the province. Senior Minister Balochistan for Planning and Development P&D, Mir Zahoor Buledi has also criticized his own government for what he called allocating Rs.30billion funds for the opposition lawmakers’ constituencies.
