Prisoner sets himself on fire inside Quetta airport police station

A prisoner sets himself on fire inside Quetta’s airport police station the other day. The prisoner identified as Zahoor Ahmed set himself on fire and succumbed to burn wounds in Quetta’s hospital after almost eight hours of treatment.

“The prisoner sets his blanket and bad on fire”, an official of the police station told Quetta Voice. He requested anonymity since he was not authorized to speak to the media. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Quetta, Syed Fida Hassan Shah suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) airport thana, Ajab Khan Kakar, and the other three policemen for their negligence and inefficiency.

Police had arrested the accused in a robbery case. Zahoor Ahmed was an Afghan national. The DIG Police has also ordered the formation of an inquiry committee to probe into the matter. The committee has been directed to submit a report in this regard by December 30th.
