Hazara women protest against Hidayat Khilji for allegedly raping, filming girls

A large number of women from the ethnic Shia Hazara community staged a protest demonstration in Quetta’s Marriabad area on Sunday. Men members of the community also joined the women in their protest against Hidayat Khilji, the key accused allegedly involved in raping and filming girls. Allegedly

“We want exemplary punishment for Hidayat Khilji”, Sana Batool, a young Hazara protester demanded. She said the government has to apprehend the remaining members of the gang involved in this heinous and inhuman crime in the city.

The protesters walked through different roads and streets of Marriabad and the rally turned into a protest demonstration on Shuhada Chowk. They were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans demanding punishment of the accused. They were also chanting slogans against the police and the accused involved in the case. Khilji belongs to a well-known family of Quetta and people are concerned he will evade justice. But authorities have assured the protesters the crimes will be investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice.

“I want severe punishment for this cruel man”, an aged woman tells Quetta Voice with a burst of tears. Sitting in a wheelchair, the woman lamented that why the government allowed such kinds of cruel people to play with the sanctity of the people.

“This is inhuman and immoral”, she said. Despite our request, she did not mention her name and was continuously weeping during the protest demonstration. Children were also part of the protest demonstration.

Police in Quetta arrested Hidayat Khilji, an accused involved in raping and filming young girls in Quetta’s Nichari road the other day. Police have also detained the brother of the accused.

Government announces to award severe punishment to the accused

Balochistan government has also assured that a strong case would be filed against the accused and that strict punishment would be awarded to him. Ziaullah Langove, the Adviser to the Chief Minister on Home and Tribal Affairs Department told a news conference that the government has taken serious notice of the incident and would not spare anyone in this regard.
