QUETTA: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan filed a reference against the project director and five other officers in the Pasni Fish Harbour corruption scandal. A reference was filed against the accused in the Accountability Court (AC) Quetta, the Spokesman NAB said in a statement issued to the press on Friday.

The accused committed irregularities and corruption in funds allocated for the restoration of the Pasni Fish Harbour, he mentioned. The accused included project director Munir Ahmed, Ali Gul Kurd, deputy project director Abdul Rub, assistant engineer Khalil Ahmed and others. They had inflicted financial losses of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

GoB had prepared PC-1 of the project in 2010

It may be mentioned that the government of Balochistan had prepared Rs. 800 million grant in 2010 and work started on the project in 2015. Instead of purchasing costly machinery and starting work, the accused caused Rs. 320 million financial loss to the national exchequer.

“After 11 years, the project could not be completed”, the Spokesman noted. He said the NAB Balochistan filed the reference against the accused while having undeniable corruption evidence against the accused.
