PPP demands water supply for farmers in Naseerabad

Dera Murad Jamali: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has demanded of the government to provide water supply to farmers in the Naseerabad division. The party took out a protest rally against water shortage in Dera Murad Jamali and other towns of the Division. Shutter down strike was also observed in Dera Murad Jamali as a protest against the water shortage.
“Our protest would continue till the availability of water”, Mir Sadiq Umrani, a member of Central Executive Committee (CEC) PPP told protesters. The protesting party workers and farmers were chanting slogans against the Balochistan Irrigation Department. They accused the Irrigation officials of deliberately complicating the issues of farmers.

Workers of other political parties also joined the protest. The protesters marched through Dera Murad Jamali and demanded of the government to make sure provision of water supply to the area.
“We want water for crops”, Mr. Umrani said. The protesters also claimed that scarcity of water has destroyed standing crops in the area. The administration had taken strict security measures to avoid the occurrence of any untoward incident during the protest demonstration.
Protesters lash out at Irrigation Department
The protesters lamented that the Irrigation Department had failed to ensure fair distribution of water at Pat Feeder and Khirthar Canal. They warned that the protest would be intensified if rulers failed to address the issue of water shortage in the division.
The protesters peacefully dispersed after recording their protest.
