FIR against Balochistan opposition members withdrawn

Balochistan government has withdrawn the First Information Report (FIR) against opposition legislators. Police had lodged FIR against 17 members of the opposition for attacking parliament and subjecting policemen to violence on the occasion of Balochistan budget 2021-2022.

“We have withdrawn cases against opposition members”, Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan said. The notification added that during the course of the investigation, “apparently contradiction of evidence was available against the MPAs”. Therefore, their names were “being discharged from the FIR on the completion of codal formalities accordingly”, it read.

Police dropped FIR but the opposition’s protest still underway

Despite dropping FIR by police, the opposition members have kept continued their protest inside the Bijli road police station. The leaders discharged from the FIR included Malak Sikandar, Ahmed Nawaz, Akhtar Langov, Sana Baloch, Shakeela Dehwar, Wahid Siddiqui, Hamal Kalmati, Aziz Agha, Naseer Shahwani, Nasrullah Zehri, Akhbar Mengal, Asghar Tareen, Haji Nawaz Kakar, Maki Sham Lal, Babu Rahim Mengal, Maulvi Noorullah and Zabit Reki.

Opposition refuses to withdrawn 22-A application against CM 

The opposition members have however refused to withdraw an application under 22-A of the constitution for registration of FIR against the CM Balochistan. The government’s negotiating team had urged the opposition to withdraw the application. “Reconciliation should be bilateral, unilateral”, Asghar Khan Achakzai, the parliamentary leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) said.
