Panic prevailed in the tourist valley in the aftermath of the terrorist attack. “This seems to be targeted killing”, a levies official told Quetta Voice via telephone. He requested anonymity. Security beefed up in and outside the valley after the killing.
Every summer, thousands of labourers from Sindh and some parts of Balochistan come to Ziarat and work in crops and orchards. This incident is the first kind of incident involving the killing of labourers. Ziarat was considered to be the most peaceful district across Balochistan.
The lush-green Ziarat valley houses the world’s second-largest juniper forest. Thousands of years old juniper trees attract tourists from across the country.
