Loralai division and new Chaman district established

Balochistan government has established a new Loralai division and a new Chaman district on Tuesday. Loralai division comprises of districts Loralai, Musakhail, Barkhan and Duki, a notification issued by the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) said. The SMBR issued the notification after the approval of Governor Balochistan.

All districts were previously part of the Zhob division. However, the Zhob division with its headquarter in Zhob would comprise of district Sherani, Killa Saifullah and Zhob district.

Killa Abdullah split into two districts 

The government has split the district, Killa Abdullah, into two districts including Killa Abdullah and Chaman, the notification mentioned. District Kill Abdullah with its headquarter at Jangle Pir Alizai would comprise Tehsil Killa Abdullah, Tehsil Gulistan, and Tehsil Dobandi.

Chaman established as a new district 

Pakistan’s bordering city with Afghanistan, Chaman has been given the status of the district by the Balochistan government. The district would comprise Tehsil City Chaman and  Tehsil Saddar Chaman, the notification added.

“We translated our words into action”, Asghar Khan Achakzai, the President Awami National Party (ANP) Balochistan told Quetta Voice. He thanked chief minister Jam Kamal Khan and other parliamentary leaders for their support in the formation of a new division and district in the province.

The number of divisions rises to 8 after the new division 

Earlier, the Balochistan cabinet had approved the formation of a new division and a new district in the province. With the establishment of a new division, the number of divisions rises to 8 in Balochistan that covers half of the country in terms of area. Moreover, the number of districts reached 34 after the establishment of the Chaman district.

Balochistan government forms a committee

The Balochistan government has formed a committee comprising senior officers of the revenue department to prepare recommendations with regard to the establishment of new districts.

The province that covers half of the country in terms of area is facing serious governance issues because of a lack of political vision/ commitment and meager revenue. Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has authorized the committee to prepare recommendations in this regard.
