PKMAP stands for real democracy in the country: Mehmood Achakzai

Matiullah Khan, Farman Shah:

Chief of Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), Mehmood Khan Achakzai on Thursday said his party stands for real democracy in the country. Speaking at the fourth death anniversary of eminent Pashtoon nationalist leader, Abdul Rahim Khan Mandokhail, he vowed to continue the struggle for supremacy of parliament and constitution.

“Almost all political parties now toe our constitutional and democratic line”, he mentioned. Other PKMAP leaders Usman Kakar, Rauf Lala, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, and others also addressed the seminar at Quetta Press Club.

Mr. Achakzai reiterated that Pashtoons, Balochs, Sindhis, Saraikis were striving for the acquisition of their constitutional rights. Supremacy of constitution guarantees a strong and prosperous Pakistan, he added.

The PKMAP Chairman however criticized the government for what he asserted closure of the Pak-Afghan border. “We will not accept the closure of the border”, he added.

Mr. Achakzai thus assured that none would be allowed to smuggle weapons and narcotics.

The veteran Pasthoon nationalist leader reiterated that stable Afghanistan was imperative for stable Pakistan. Peace in Afghanistan will have a positive impact on the overall situation of the region, he said. He demanded an end to bloodshed in the impoverished country. Except for the atom bomb, all weapons used in Afghanistan, he noted.

He reiterated that Pashtoons were not ready to live in the country as second-class citizens rather they should be given their fundamental and constitutional rights.
