Court directs govt to stop extra salaries to CM Balochistan secretariat employees

The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday directed the provincial government to stop payment of extra basic salaries to officials/employees of the Chief Minister Secretariat. A division bench comprising of the BHC Chief Justice, Mr. Justice Jamal Mandokhail, and Mr. Justice Kamran Malakhail passed this order during the hearing of employees case.

Advocate General Balochistan, Arbab Tahir Kasi, and leaders of the Grand Employees Alliance (GEA) appeared before the court. Senior lawyer, Naseebulllah Tareen advocate had filed a petition in the court with regard to the protest of GEA.

Government asked to stop special allowance to federal officers 

The bench also directed the Balochistan government to stop the special allowance to officers of the Federal Government serving in the province. The bench observed that the provincial government failed to justify payment of special incentive allowance to federal officers.

Employees called off the protest on the directives of the court

The Grand Employees Alliance (GEA) called off agitation after the assurance by the Balochistan government for acceptance of employees’ demands. The protesting employees staged a sit-in for 12 days and blocked all roads leading towards the Red Zone.

Teachers protest caused postponement of matric paper

Matric examinations could not be held because of strikes by teachers. The government teachers association Balochistan had announced to boycott the examinations. “Since morning, I have been waiting, but there is not a teacher”, Bilal Ahmed, a student lamented. Bilal was waiting outside the Shafiq Ahmed Khan Shaheed High School Quetta.
