Gulf widens: PDM issues notices to PPP and ANP

Monitoring Desk :

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has issued notices to Pakistan Peoples Party and Awami National Party (ANP). Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the Central leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) confirmed on Monday morning.

The two mainstream political parties within the anti-democratic alliance issued show-cause notices for what Mr. Abbasi claims violating the discipline of the alliance. Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, the Chief of the PDM had given the approval of the show-cause notices.

“The notices have been sent on WhatsApp. Hard copies will be handed over during today’s Senate session,” he said, adding that both the parties have been given seven days to respond to the notices.

The gulf widened between the PML (N) and PPP over the election of the opposition leader in the upper house. The PML N accused the PPP of taking votes from the government-backed senators for the election.

Whatever answer is received will be presented during a meeting of the opposition alliance’s constituent parties, he said. “The PDM will decide the future course of action.”

He also said that it was written on the notice that the opposition alliance will not make it public. However, both the parties can make them public if they wish to do so, he said.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Yousuf Raza Gilani confirmed that the PPP had received the notice.
