Promotion of national game hockey top priority of government: CM Balochistan

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan on Friday said the promotion of national game hockey was one of the top priorities of the government. He expressed these views while addressing the occasion of the final match of the CM Balochistan Hockey Gold Cup.

Pakistan WAPDA won the match against the National Bank of Pakistan by two goals.

The Balochistan Sports Department had organized the event in connection with the celebrations of Pakistan Day in Quetta. Hockey teams from across the country participated in the tournament. World-fame players Zeshan also participated in the tournament played in the Ayub Stadium area of Quetta.

Thousands turn up to witness the match

A large number of spectators witnessed the final match of the hockey tournament.

“After 17 hours, this government-organized hockey tournament”, Jam Kamal said. He said the present government determined to promote sports activities in Balochistan and provide a space for local players to demonstrate their talents.

“This is a historic day”, Khaliq Hazara 

Addressing the spectators and players, Abdul Khaliq Hazara, the Adviser to the Chief Minister on Sports termed the event as a historic day in the sport’s history of Balochistan. “This is an important day for all of us”, Mr. Hazara said.

He said sportsmen are ambassadors of Pakistan and they have to play their due role in the promotion of sports activities. “This is good to see international players here”, he said.

Imran Gichki praised 

The Chief Minister, Jam Kamal also praised Secretary Sports Imran Gichki for making hectic efforts to organize the tournament despite all difficulties. The CM also distributed award money among the winning teams on the occasion. Strict security measures adopted to maintain the law and order situations during the match witnessed by thousands of spectators.
