Clean Green Pakistan: 6 cities of Balochistan included: Amin Aslam

Matiullah Khan :

QUETTA: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam on Thursday said the federal government has included 6 cities of Balochistan in the Prime Minister’s clean and green project. The cities include Quetta, Sibi, Gwadar, Loralai, Turbat, and Ziarat. Four cities of Balochistan earlier included in the project.

“The world used solid-waste as a resource”, he told reporters at a local hotel in Quetta. He however lamented that unfortunately, 60 percent of solid-waste was lying on roads in our country.

Deforestation poses a serious threat to Pakistan

Deforestation poses a serious threat to Pakistan, Malik Amin Aslam mentioned. Pakistan is the fifth most vulnerable country in terms of global warming. “Balochistan that covers half of the country in terms of an area needs special attention in terms of global warming”, Amjad Rasheed, a well-known social activist said.

Mr. Rasheed’s Taraqee Foundation (TF) has recently launched a tree plantation campaign in various parts of Balochistan. The TF has planted 30,000 trees in Band Khushdhil Khan Pishin district.

40 percent of people lodged complaints about garbage

Mr. Aslam noted that 40 percent of people lodged complaints about a heap of garbages across the country. He said it is irony of fate that the system has failed to use solid-waste as a resource. The adviser to PM on climate change said that PM’s tree plantation campaign would help Pakistan to mitigate the impacts of global warming.

He urged the masses to plant maximum trees to mitigate the impacts of global warming. “Government and masses have to join hands”, Malik Aslam Awan stated. Secretary Balochistan Local Government, Saleh Nasar, Secretary Forest and Wildlife, Siddique Mandokhail, Senior forest officer, Abdul Jabbar and other high ups were also present on the occasion.
