Secret ballot harms democracy and promotes corruption: Imran Khan

Prime Minister, Imran Khan on Thursday said secret ballot in recently held Senate elections has harmed democracy and promoted corruption in the country. “The Election Commission of Pakistan had to stop corruption”, the Premier said in his address to the nation.

“I will seek a vote of confidence from parliament on March 6”, he announced during the address. He said it is up to the legislators to decide about his fate. “Except travel and security, I have not used official wealth”, Imran Khan said. He said, “I am not concerned about my government”.

“Whether in Government or opposition, I will not leave corrupts” 

“Keep in mind, whether in government or opposition, I will not leave you”, the PM announced. “Even If I went abroad I will not leave them”, Imran Khan said.

“We are not a poor country we have resources, but corruption made us poor”, he said. No country can run smoothly if the powerful dominates everything.

Despite all these claims, the PTI is a single majority party in the Senate, he mentioned.

1000 billion dollars going from poor countries to rich nations 

He said 1000 billion dollars were going from the developing world to the developed world at the cost of poor people. Money going from poor countries to rich countries, he said. When PM and ministers do corruption then the country becomes poor, he added. This ultimately devalues the currency, he said.
