Monitoring Desk:

The Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Babar Iftikhar on Wednesday said the officers responsible for the escape of Ehsanullah Ehsan have already been taken to task.

In February of 2020, it was revealed that Ehsan escaped from the custody of security forces during an operation against terrorists conducted on the basis of information gleaned from him.

Ehsan had turned himself into intelligence agencies on February 5, 2017, and remained in custody ever since.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Babar Iftikhar, while speaking to foreign journalists at the ISPR office, said that the escape of Ehsan was a “very serious matter” and after a thorough investigation, the action was taken against the responsible army officers.

“Efforts are underway to re-arrest him [Ehsanullah Ehsan], but at the moment we are not aware of his whereabouts,” he said.
