Staff Reporter :

Chief of Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), Mehmood Khan Achakzai has called for promoting mother languages across the country. Addressing a gathering in connection with the international mothers’ languages day on Sunday in Quetta, he said none can ignore the importance of mother languages in education and other fields of life.

“Children have to be given education in their mother languages”, Achakzai demanded. He also cited examples of developed countries with regard to the importance of mother languages.

The PKMAP chief urged the rulers to accept the fundamental rights including the right to learn education in their own languages of all nationalities living in the country. He said it was the birthright of every child to get an education in his/her language.

Regarding the ongoing agitation by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Mr. Achakzai said the movement was for supremacy of parliament and constitution in the country. He said all opposition parties were committed to upholding the banner of democracy and the constitution in the country.

PKMAP chairman said the government has failed to address the issues of the masses and this resulted in resentment among the people. He urged all political parties to join their hands for strengthening democratic institutions in the country. He reiterated that there has to be no role of intelligence agencies in the political affairs of the country.

Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal of PKMAP, president of Quetta Bar Association, Iqbal Kasi advocate, and others also addressed the gathering.
