Chaman MNA marries a 14-year-old girl in Chitral

Member National Assembly (MNA) from Balochistan’s Killa Abdullah district, Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi has married a 14-year-old girl of Chitral. Police in Chitral stated that a local welfare organization has submitted an application against the under-age marriage of a minor girl with the aged MNA.

Maulana Ayubi elected as MNA on the ticket of Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (F) during the general elections of 2018 from Chaman-Killa Abdullah. Despite repeated attempts, the Quetta Voice was not able to get the reaction of the MNA in this regard.

The girl belongs to Darwash town: SHO said

Additional SHO Chitral, Rehmat Azeem has said an investigation into the case completed, and the girl belongs to Darwash town. The family is currently outside Chitral, he mentioned.

As per the school record, the date of birth of the girl is September 2006. Anwar Ali Khan, a lawyer said the age for marriage is legally 16 years. And this marriage was in violation of the law, he added.

The social welfare organization of Chitral stated that the parents of the minor girl had agreed to get the girl married within the district not outside. The family violated an agreement with the organization, it said.
