PB 20 Pishin mob burnt a vehicle one person injured in Killi Karbala

The angry mob burnt a vehicle and injured a person in Balochistan’s Pishin district during by-polls on Tuesday evening. As the polling time ended, unknown men opened fire and injured one person in Killi Karbala, Qaim Lashari, the Deputy Commissioner of Pishin said. He said the incident happened quite away from the polling station.

The angry mob also burnt a vehicle in the Killi Karbala area of the district. “We are investigating into the incident”, Mr. Lashari said. Eyewitnesses said the supporters of Balochistan Awami Party candidate Asmatullah Tareen and independent candidate Amruddin Agha clashed outside the polling station.

Vote counting underway

Vote counting is underway at PB-20 Pishin Balochistan during by-polls. Vote counting started at 5 pm after the expiry of timing. According to the initial results of 5 polling stations, JUI (F) candidate Azizullah Agha is leading.

A tough contest is underway between the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) candidate and the ruling Balochistan Awami candidate.

Syed Azizullah Agha, a candidate of the Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (F) is backed by the component parties of PDM, and the BAP candidate is backed by PTI other parties.

The polling started at 8 am in the morning and would continue till 5 pm without any break.

JUI (F) candidate’s position appears to be strong

The position of Azizullah Agha, a JUI (F) candidate backed by the anti-government alliance appears to be strong. However, the ruling BAP candidate Asmatullah Tareen has also conducted an effective campaign to reach out to voters in the constituency.

The seat fell vacant in 2020 after the death of Syed Muhammad Fazal Agha, a JUI (F) legislator. The election commission of Pakistan had announced by-polls on February 16.
