QUETTA: After mounting political pressure, the ruling Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) has withdrawn a senate ticket from Abdul Qadir in Balochistan. The ruling party had awarded a senate ticket to Abdul Qadir, a well-known businessman, and builder from Gujranwala.

“The party has taken ticket back from Abdul Qadir”, Shehbaz Gill, one of PTI’s central spokesmen said. He said the ticket awarded to Syed Zahoor Agha. Mr. Agha has been one of the staunch workers of the ruling party.

The PTI Balochistan had strongly opposed awarding tickets to Abdul Qadir and conveyed their anger to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Speaking to Geo News, Abdul Qadir said, “I am a supporter of Imran Khan”. He said he would play his role in strengthening the ruling party. “I have been participating in PTI public meetings since 2012-13”, Mr. Qadir mentioned. He dispelled the impression about getting membership from the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).

Earlier in the day, Babar Yousafzai, the spokesman of PTI Balochistan opposed awarding ticket to Abdul Qadir and termed it against party policy. He had demanded of the Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of the issue and take back the senate ticket from Abdul Qadir.
