Balochistan cabinet approves first digital policy 2020-21

QUETTA: The Balochistan cabinet on Monday approved the first digital policy 2020-21 in the province. Under the digital policy, people will be having access to e-governance and digital services.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan chaired the cabinet meeting that made a number of important decisions relating to the province. Provincial ministers and other high ups attended the meeting.

Provision of high-speed internet facility to the masses would be ensured

Besides the provision of high-speed and economical internet facilities, information technology companies, promotion of the digital economy would be promoted. The cabinet has decided to establish the state of an art centralized data center to boost information technology in the province.

The cabinet also approved policies about procurement, minerals, etc to improve the economy of the province. The members gave various suggestions with regard to the promotion of the mineral sector.

Cabinet offers fateha for the slain coal miners 

The cabinet also offered fateha for the departed souls of 11 coal miners brutally killed in Balochistan’s Mach area. The cabinet strongly condemned the terrorist act and vowed to bring the perpetrators to book. The outlawed Islamic State had claimed the responsibility for the attack.

The cabinet approved the release of Rs. 111.800 million to compensate the residents of two union councils damaged by an earthquake in Washuk district of Balochistan. Two union councils Basima and Korgai were severely affected by the earthquake that struck the region on August 13, 2020.
