Quetta: Trackers System to be installed in 316 Karachi coaches

The Balochistan government has decided to install a tackers system in Quetta-Karachi passenger coaches to check over-speeding and reckless driving. The decision made at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan on Friday. Tracker system would be installed in 316 passenger coaches.

Chief Secretary Balochistan, Fazeel Asghar, Additional Chief Secretary (Development), Saboor Kakar, Secretary Transport Bashir Ahmed Bangulzai, and other high ups participated in the meeting.

Secretary transport briefed the meeting about increasing incidents of traffic accidents and the issue of over-speeding and reckless driving on Quetta-Karachi highway.

The installation of tracker devices in passenger buses would ensure timely reporting of reckless driving and over-speeding on the Quetta-Karachi highway, the meeting observed. Deadly traffic accidents on the highway have become the order of the day.

Green bus scheme in Quetta

The provincial government has also decided to launch a green bus scheme in Quetta to facilitate the masses. The city has been divided into two portions under the green bus project. The district administration of Quetta in this regard would set up bus terminals on two points at Joint Road and Airport Road.

From Serena hotel Chowk to Belili, 11 bus stop would be set up, Bashir Ahmed Bangulzai informed the meeting. He said the regional transport authority would have control of the maintenance and operation of the project on the route. Initially, the service would be launched with 8 buses, he mentioned.

Launching of green bus service in other cities of Balochistan also reviewed 

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the launching of green bus service in other cities of Balochistan should also be reviewed. He said the project will help in the reduction of impacts of pollution and addressing the issue of traffic. Jam Kamal directed that in the first phase 2 buses should be started for women in the city.
