ISLAMABAD:

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid informed on Wednesday that the government had decided to cancel former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s passport on February 16.

Speaking to the media at the Capital Development Authority’s headquarter, Rashid further said that if the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to take part in the Senate elections then it will also be participating in the by-polls.

Rashid’s remarks came as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) surprised everyone, a day earlier, with the announcement of contesting the upcoming Senate elections, while endorsing at the same time almost all decisions of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), including resigning from assemblies.

The party, in its Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting at the Bilawal House, also decided to challenge the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led governments at the Centre and in other provinces through no-confidence motions in the National Assembly, Punjab Assembly and others.

The interior minister said the door for dialogues was open as he termed the opposition members ‘thieves’, out to get their stealing pardoned. “They are all going to be exposed,” he said.

He further informed that from January 1st visas for all countries can be applied for online, including for Afghanistan and China. Discussing CDA’s matters, the interior minister announced regularising all contractual employees of the development authority.
