Gas leakage kills 3 in Hazara Town Quetta

A gas leakage has killed 3 persons including 2 women in Quetta’s Hazara Town on Tuesday. Police said the family was sleeping inside a room when died because of gas leakage. The dead bodies shifted to the Bolan Medical Complex Hospital.

The victims identified as husband and wife. The third victim was also their close relative residing at one home. Police also reached the affected house as an investigation into the incident went underway in this regard.

Gas leakage claimed 9 precious human lives in Quetta 

Gas leakage incidents have claimed 9 lives and injured over two dozen people during the last three months in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. Muhammad Anwar Baloch, the General Manager Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) termed negligence on the part of people as the underlying reason behind such incidents. “Masses have to be careful about gas leakages and blasts in this chilly weather”, Mr. Baloch said.

The Balochistan High Court (BHC) had also taken notice of low gas pressure in Quetta and other parts of the province. The Court had also directed the SSGC to address the issue of low gas pressure and heavy bills to consumers.

Consumers using compressors also causing such incidents: SSGC 

Mr. Baloch however said many consumers have been using compressors in chilly weather to get a better gas supply. “These compressors are also causing gas blasts”, the GM SSGC informed.

Recently, the SSGC has taken action against consumers using illegal compressors. They have disconnected dozens of connections for using illegal compressors. “These compressors are causing blasts and gas leakages”, Madani Siddiqui, the Senior General Manager SSGC said.

Low and no gas pressure in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan have compounded the problems of the masses in the prevailing chilly weather. Gas load shedding has forced people to switch towards traditional stoves in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan to brave chilly weather.
