Reko Diq Corruption Case: Court issues notices to all 26 accused

The Accountability Court in Quetta has issued notices to all 26 accused in the Reko Diq Corruption Case on Thursday. The court directed all accused to appear before the court on November 18 in Quetta.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a reference against 26 key government officers, representatives, and officers of a private multi-national company for inflicting financial losses of trillions of rupees to the national exchequer.

Court sources revealed that Muhammad Farooq, Captain (R) Fareed Uddin, Atta Muhammad Jaffar, Amir Ali Burq, Muhammad Tahir, Habibullah Baloch, Engineer Maqbool Ahmed, Sheikh Asmatullah, Shehbaz Khan Mandokhail and others. 10 officers of the Australian Company are also among the accused, they revealed.

The Accountability Court has directed all the accused to appear before the court with regard to the mega corruption case in the country’s gold-copper project i.e. Reko Diq on November 18 of this month.

Mining Rules amended to provide benefits to Tethyan Copper Company 

Contrary to national interests, mining concession rules amended to provide benefits to Tethyan Copper Company (TCC), Spokesman NAB earlier said. Through sub-agreements, the officers provided financial profits of billions of rupees to TCC, he stated.

Apart from this, the officers of the revenue department also provided benefits to the company in terms of land allotments to get personal benefits. The accused have also confessed taking personal benefits, he added.
