Business Community welcomes opening of Badini Trade Terminal

QUETTA: Members of the business community in Balochistan has welcomed the opening of the trading terminal at the Pak-Afghan border Badini. The new gate-way and trade-terminal would open new vistas of development and jobs in the frontier villages with Afghanistan.
“This is a right step in the right direction”, Ghulam Farooq Khilji, the patron-in-chief of the Balochistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI) remarked. Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan inaugurated the Pak-Afghan Badini trade-terminal to boost economic activities between the two countries.
“This was our long-standing demand”, Haji Akhtar Kakar, another businessman from Balochistan said. Badini is the second legal route from Balochistan province with neighboring Afghanistan after the Pak-Afghan border Chaman. Through Badini, traders and business community from Punjab and other parts of the country would also be able to trade with Afghanistan.
Badini gate-way to boost economic activities
“Badini border would reduce sufferings of the business community”, Mr. Kakar mentioned. He said the opening of this gate-way was imperative following growing trade with Afghanistan and accommodating and supporting people in the frontier villages.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has also hinted exporting Pakistani products through the Badini gate to the Central Asian States besides Afghanistan. He also announced that around Rs. 6 bs would be spent in the next few years in the bordering to belt to bring the area at par with other parts of the country.
Earlier, it was only Chaman that served as a legal gate-way connecting Balochistan province with Afghanistan. With the establishment of the Badini trade-terminal, traders and businessmen from Killa Saifullah, Muslim Bagh, Loralai, Zhob, and other parts of the province would easily export their products to Afghanistan. “The gate-way would help increasing trade activities with Afghanistan”, Farooq Khilji stated.
