Balochistan rains claim 13 lives, completely damaged 861 houses
Torrential rains damaged bridges, dams and roads in the province
Torrential rains in Balochistan have claimed 13 lives including four children and two women during the last three days. The spell of monsoon rains has completely damaged 861 mud-walled houses in the province’s Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad, Khuzdar, Harnai and other districts, the Provincial Disasterment Management Authority (PDMA) statistics obtained the daily Quetta Voice show.
Rains related deaths have been reported from Dera Bugti, Khuzdar, Kohlu and other districts of Balochistan.
Heavy rainfall has affected 25 districts of Balochistan in recent. However, the provincial government had declared 12 districts as sensitive as a result of the continued spell of monsoon rains in the province.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan paid an aerial visit to Sibi and Naseerabad divisions to review arrangments with regard to heavy rainfall. The CM also visited the Jhal Magsi, the worst-hit district by the recent spell of heavy rainfall and met with provincial minister Nawabzada Tariq Magsi and other elites of the area.
The PDMA data mentioned rainfall has damaged 3 dams, 2 bridges and 8 communication roads in Balochistan. Mr. Jam Kamal chaired a high-level meeting and directed the concerned quarters to step up efforts for reopening national highs and other link roads in the province.
