Balochistan Govt to reduce non-development expenditures in next budget

The Balochistan government on Tuesday decided to reduce non-development expenditures in the budget for the financial year 2020-21. This decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by chief minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan. The underlying reason behind the reduction in the non-development budget is to spend maximum funds on the development sector to bring the province at par with other parts of the country.
Provincial ministers including Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, Nawabzada Tariq Magsi and others participated in the meeting that thoroughly reviewed the pace of preparation for the upcoming provincial budget.
Noor ul Haq Baloch, the Secretary Finance Balochistan informed the meeting that so far 76 billion rupees were released for the public sector development program. The amount is highest as compared to previous years.
The departments have provided all details to the planning and development department with regard to the upcoming budget. The meeting decided to allocate funds for the ongoing development projects in the light of recommendations of monitoring committees, divisional commissioners, and chief minister’s inspection team.
The meeting directed the planning and development department to make sure provision of development documents to legislators on time. The meeting decided that the secretaries of the departments should brief the concerned ministers with regard to the non-development expenditures before the budget.
